The journey of Marcelo was one of incredible success and triumph, as he achieved the pinnacle of his career by winning the World Cup for Brazil in 1994. Born on February 26, 1975, Marcelo began his footballing career with Santos, where he made his way up through the ranks. He was named the Brazilian Footballer of the Year in 1992 after scoring over 20 goals in 18 matches for the club.

In 1994, Marcelo joined English side Manchester United from Santos, where he scored 17 goals in just 38 appearances. Despite being offered a contract by the Portuguese giants, Marcelo refused, opting instead to sign for Manchester United.

At Manchester United, Marcelo quickly established himself as one of the best defenders in Europe, alongside fellow Brazilian Ronaldo.
