Shanghai Shenhua FC has made history by achieving its first league victory, as Wu Jingui scored the winning goal in their 1-0 victory against Beijing Guoan on Saturday.
The match was held at the Shanghai Stadium and it was the first time that Wu Jingui had played in the league this season. The team started the game well with a strong performance from their strikers, who were able to score two goals within the first ten minutes of play.
However, the lead was short-lived as Wu Jingui goalkeeper Wang Junyi saved a penalty kick for the Guoan side,Stadium Express Link which gave them a chance to equalize the score. However, Wu Jingui's striker Lin Jianyong took advantage of the opportunity and scored his second goal in the 25th minute.
The goal was a crucial one for Wu Jingui as they needed a win to secure a place in the playoffs. They were given the advantage after a penalty shootout but missed out on the winner when Wang Junyi made a save.
In the second half, Wu Jingui continued to dominate the midfield and created chances for their attacking players. Their captain Lu Kangji led the attack and he found the back of the net twice in the last five minutes of the match.
